What is APBS (Aadhaar Payment Bridge System)?

APBS is a centralised payment platform developed by NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) that enables the direct transfer of government subsidies and welfare benefits to beneficiaries using their Aadhaar number.

Key Features of APBS:

  • Aadhaar-Based Transfers:
    Government subsidies are transferred directly to the beneficiary’s account linked with their Aadhaar number.
  • No Need for Bank Account Details:
    Only Aadhaar is needed. The system identifies the linked bank account for the transfer.
  • Safe & Transparent:
    Payments are processed through secure and verified government systems.
  • Used for Various Subsidies:   
    • LPG Subsidy
    • PM Kisan
    • Pension Schemes
    • Scholarship Payments
    • MNREGA Wages
    • Other DBT Schemes

Steps to Receive Subsidy through APBS:

  1. Link Aadhaar to Your Bank Account:
    Visit your home branch with your Aadhaar card and passbook to seed (link) your Aadhaar number.
  2. Ensure Aadhaar is Active with NPCI:
    The Aadhaar must be linked with your bank account in the NPCI mapper to receive payments.
  3. Register for the Required Government Scheme:
    Apply through the respective government portal or department.
  4. Receive Payment:
    Subsidy will be credited automatically to your linked bank account upon approval.

Important Notes:

  • Only one bank account can be active for APBS at a time.
  • If your Aadhaar is linked to multiple banks, the most recently updated account will receive the payment.
  • Keep your mobile number updated with the bank to receive SMS alerts for subsidy credits.
